LIONEL WILLIAM CROUCH, son of W. Crouch, Friarscroft, Aylesbury, was born on August 20th 1886. He was at Marlborough College (B3) from 1900 to 1904. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1909. A keen Volunteer, he joined the 1st Bucks R.V.C. in 1907, and became Captain in 1912. At the outbreak of the War he volunteered with his Regiment, now organised as Territorials, for the Front. They were sent to France in March 1915. On July 21st 1916 he was killed in Action, leading his Company in an assault on the German trenches near Pozières.
